These recommendations
form part of a two year study of the hydrology of the ll.N.
Shale area. The study is being performed by Geothermal
Surveys, Inc. under contract to Claremont Engineering Com-
pany.
The study seeks to answer several questions. t>3nong
these are:
1. Shat quantity of water is available for use by
the Occidental Oil Shale Con]pany at its D.A. Shale
site?
~~
2. What quantity of water is being withdrawn through
mining and processing activities without replace-
ment?
3. Wliat impact does the mining and processing activi-
ties have on the quality of water that passes
through the area?
4. What are the possible routes of disposal of waste
waters produced through mining activities?
$. How far downstream can the effects of the mining
and production processes be discerned?

ri; INERMAL
E%PIORA ZION
