BYRNE
1912 19]0
Re: Mann Lake, Adams County Gravel
Operation; Farmers' High Line
Canal and Reservoir Co.
Dear Mr. Nichol:
I am in receipt of a copy of the letter under date of May 13, 1977,
written by Mr. J. C. Kuiper, State Engineer, regarding the proposed
gravel operation by Adams County, Colorado.
From the tenor of the letter, Adams County has not filed a plan of
augmentation to augment water that will be lost by evaporation from the
operation of the proposed gravel - recreational area to be developed by
Adams County.
On behalf of Farmers` High Line Canal and Reservoir Co., this letter
is to also confirm the concern of Farmers' High Line Canal and Reservoir
Co, expressed by Mr. Kuiper. Water lost to the river which would preci-
pitate an earlier call by Evans No. 2 Ditch has an adverse effect on sub-
sequent dated water rights owned by Farmers' High Line Canal and Reservoir
Co., which water rights are necessary for the irrigation of farm grounds
in Adams County. When Evans No. 2 Ditch calls out Farmers' High Line
and Reservoir Co., the remaining water rights available to the Farmer's
High Line Canal and Reservoir Co. are not sufficient to properly irrigate
and manage its irrigation ditch.
The Farmers' High Line Canal and Reservoir Co. urges the county
defer any action on the gravel recreation project until it has filed an
augmentation plan acceptable to the State Engineer's office.
Very truly yours,
Lysle R.
