M-93-080,
Summit Pressed Brick and Tile Company
Dear Mr. Galbreath:
The Division of Minerals and Geology has referred your
letter of December 1, 1993, to us for a reply.
Many of your concerns are addressed by the application
for the permit, which is on file with the E1 Paso County
Clerk and Recorder in its entirety. It is very speculative as to whether or not mining
would ever progress anywhere close to that area. In any
event, the mining will remain clear of those habitats.
Reclamation will be phased rather than waiting until the
operation ceases. The mining and reclamation plans
contemplate that at any given time five acres would consist
of excavation and stockpiles, and around five acres in the
various stages of preparation for reclamation and
reclamation.
Original contours obviously cannot be restored because
material has been removed. However, the reclamation plan
provides for slopes of 3H:1V, or flatter. Erosion will be
controlled on topsoil by seeding if the topsoil remains for
more than one year, and on reclaimed areas by disking or
chiseling, fertilization, seeding and mulching.
The Department of Wildlife Statement/Evaluation
indicates that, with proper setbacks from wetland and
THIRTEENTH AND ERIE - PUEBLO, COLORADO 81002
