Stevens
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
•
RECEIVED
r'" - ;'"d
~_,~nsion of Minerals 8 Geobgy
REF: Parkdale Project (M-97-054)
Dear Mr. Stevens;
III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
sss
I have reviewed the documents submitted to the Fremont County Recorder's office by Agile Stone
regazding the above mentioned permit and I object to the issuance of a permit on this project for the
following reasons:
1. The new application has substantially changed from the original permit application
submitted to your division. Agile Stone Systems, Inc. should have to go through the entire process of
an original permit application which includes three hearings, the first of which is a public information
hearing held here in Canon City. Because the permitted area to be mined has increased substantially over
the original land mass to be affected the public here in Canon City should by all rights be allowed a new
information meeting where questions can be addressed and concerns can be voiced.
2. The applicant, Agile Stone Systems, is proposing to haul their materials out of the area by rail
yet they have uo proof of access to any rail line at the moment. Access to and from the area is meagre
at best at this time: The bridge crossing the Arkansas River is rated at 14 tons -not nearly enough for
rock-halving trucks or building equipment of any kind and there is simply no other access. I object to the
issuance of a permit to Agile Stone Systems unless they can prove they have adequate access to the rail
line by which they will haul the majority of the rock and unless the road and bridge are substantially
altered to accomodate the traffic they aze proposing.
3. The hydrology information submitted to the Division is not correct according to our current
research. I object to the issuance of a permit to Agile Stone Systems unless our concerns about our
water can be adequately and fairly addressed at a public hearing.
1 respectfully request that the State of Colorado, Division of Minerals and Geology, send me a copy of all
maps submitted by Agile Stone to the Division in their application. Our County office does not have a
copier which can make copies of this size and they will not allow us to take the file out of their offices to
make copies on our own. This is substantially hampering my ability to research the information submitted
and to prepare our presentation for your Division in a timely manner. Our only recourse is for your
division to make copies. I apologise for any inconvenience this causes.
Thank you for considering my objections.
--- - --- _
rely, ~
-. usan Steers
