Cottony
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
Re: Second Adequacy Letter, Glacier Peak Mining, Permit Application, File No. M-2003-030
Dear Mr. Doors:
The Division completed a technical review of your response to the Division's adequacy letter.
Following are a few items that still need to be addressed, corrected or revised in order to comply
with the minimum requirements of the Act/ Mineral Rules and Regulations:
1. A single application can be issued for the Elk Horn, Smoky Hawk, BILie Smoky and Wolf
Fang mining claims. According to Mr. Humphries, a second permit is required for the
Qui-But No. 2 claim.
The Division is awaze of the John O. Buckner's 2-acre 110(1); permit which was issued in
1993. The laws and policies have changed since then. For instance, 110(1) permits aze no
longer allowed. Distances between disturbed azeas within one permit must be kept to a
minimum.
A single annual fee (and report) will be required for each permit. So, if you are the
pern3ittee of two permits, you will be required to submit two annual reports and fees.
2. You mentioned that you intend to prospect on a few of your claims. Have you obtained
a Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting (NOI) from the DMG for your prospecting
operations? If not, you need to contact Mr. Harry Posey, Acting Senior Environmental
Protection Specialist, at 303-866-3567 and discuss the NOI process.
3. Please provide the revised amount of proposed permit acreage after removing the Qui-But
No. 2 claim from this application.
4. Please provide a list of equipment that you propose to use when reclaiming the disturbed
areas (eg, tractor and disc, wheel loader, DS dozer, etc.) so the DMG can calculate the
estimated reclamation costs for this project.
The decision due date is currently set for June 4, 2003. If you cannot respond to this adequacy
letter by the decision date, you should ask for an extension of the review time pursuant to Rule
1.4.1(9) so the application is not denied.
If you have any questions, please give me a call at 303-866-4060.
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
