Raines of the Applegate Group, Inc. regarding the
25th Avenue Pit. The letter requests that this office acknowledge receipt of the application for a new
substitute supply plan for the 25`h Avenue Pit and indicate if this office objects to the issuance of a
reclamation permit for this site. An existing supply plan for the Greeley West Pit currently includes the area
of the 25'h Avenue Pit.
This office has received the following items regarding the 25`h Avenue Pit:
1) An application for substitute supply plan for the 25"' Avenue Pit and required fee of $1,343,
received on May 8, 2002.
Z) An application for a well permit for the subject site and required fee of $60 received on May
21, 2002.
3) A letter dated May 15, 2002 from Todd Williams, Water Resource Engineer for the City of
Greeley, indicating the City of Greeley will provide augmentation water for the 25'" Avenue
PiUGreeley West Pit in the amount of 205.84 Acre-feet/year using wholly consumable
effluent from the City's wastewater plant associated with the use of the City's Windy Gap
Shares.
4) Lining design for the proposed slurry wall to be installed at this site. This office has sent a
letter dated February 27, 2002 indicating approval of the proposed design.
5) Request to amend the existing substitute supply plan for the Greeley West Pit to exclude
the two ponds to be included in the supply plan for the 25th Avenue Pit.
Based on the above, we have no objection to DMG issuing the reclamation permit for the 25v'
Avenue Pit at this time, however, unless included in the existing Greeley West plan, no out-of-priority
depletions can occur in connection with the 25th Avenue Pit until such time as a supply plan is approved for
this site.
If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Deatherage of this office.
Sincerely,
~~ /~
w''i ~ m~jntyr~~
Water Resource Engineer
WCM/JD
cc: Dave Nettles, Assistant Division Engineer
George Varra, Water Commissioner, District 3
Richard T.
