Construction Company and Tuttle <br />App_egate, Inc., I un:~ler.st.and the Division of Minerals and <br />Geology ilas some questicns regarding the use of the slurry wall <br />for s*..orage in a gravel pit reservoir. <br />~hP Cora ral Colorado Wat?r Gc~lservancy District (Central) has <br />dPVeloned several ~1RPd gre:.vel pits along the Cache la Poudre <br />Rivsr, and is under contrac*_ to develop others along the South <br />Platte. We use this storage for augmentation water to replace <br />Depletions from alluvial groundwater wells. Central is under <br />contract with ?fall Irwin: Construction Company to develop Baseline <br />:esetvoir into a ].iced pit. The water will be used in Central's <br />Substii:ute Stmoly Flan. <br />The State Engineer's Office does not approve the design of slurry <br />walls to seal water storage vessels. That Office does have basic <br />standards for the construction of sealed reservoirs which involve <br />tolerances for leakage. <br />Hall Irwin has hired a professional engineer to design the slurry <br />wall to meet the State Engineer's requirements. Central will <br />.review that desigr.~., and will closely monitor the construction <br />pxUCess.
