Climate data recorded at Canon <br />City is considered representative of the Pazkdale site. Canon City is located about 6 <br />miles southeast of Pazkdale. Canon City's elevation is about 5,300 feet and Parkdale's <br />elevation is 5,800. Summer precipitation falls as showers with some thundershowers. <br />Winters are temperate. Snow fall in the project azea is mostly on south facing slopes and <br />unshaded azeas. This causes the snow to melt in a few days. <br />The total annual precipitation is about 13 inches at Canon City for the period of record. <br />Of this, 65 percent usually falls in April through September. The usual growing season <br />falls between Apri128th and October 12th. The heaviest 1-day rainfall during the period <br />of record was 2.74" on May 18, 1955. Thunderstorms occur on about 60 days each yeaz. <br />Average seasonal snowfall is about 37" and the geatest recorded snow depth at any one <br />time was 25". An inch of snow on the ground lasts for about 2 days before melting. <br />The average humidity at dawn is about 60%, 40% in mid afternoon and higher at night. <br />Cloud coverage only occurs 20% during the summer and 25% during winter. The <br />prevailing wing is from the north-northeast. The wind is greatest during the spring at 12 <br />miles per hour. <br />The table below lists data on temperature and precipitation as recorded at Canon City for <br />the period between 1951 and 1980. In winter the average temperature is 38 degrees at <br />Canon City and the average daily minimum temperature is 24 degrees. In summer, the <br />average temperature is 73 degrees and the average daily maximum temperature is about <br />84 degrees. <br /> <br />
