Dear Mr. Burnell,
Mountain Coal Company, L.L.C. is submitting these responses to the Division's adequacy review dated
5 October 2001, regazding additional Gob Vent De-Gas Borehole Pads and Drill Holes Nos. 15-O1, 15-
02, IS-03, 15-3.5, IS-O5, and Access. Attached are the updated schedule, and the SEDCAD
designations for all of the proposed drill pads.
(1) The updated schedule (attached) shows the schedule as it relates [o the United States Forest
Service (USFS) Enviromnental Assessment process.
(2) MCC agrees with the Division's calculations for the reclamation bond in the amount of
$ l 14,861.00.
(3) Drill Pads Nos. 15-01, 15-02, 15-03, 15-3.5, and 15-OS will have the 1.0 acre SEDCAD typical
analysis applied [o each of the pads.
The project occurs on MCC's existing Federal Coal Leases and the Gunnison National Forest. As
such, MCC requested permission from the United Stales Forest Service (USFS) to conduct this project
for the remaining Gob Vent De-Gas Boreholes in Longwall Panel 15. The application was submitted
to the USFS on September 7, 2001. It is expected that the USFS could approve the expedited
Environmental Analysis (EA) either Friday [he 19`h or Saturday the 20'h of October for [his project.
As a result of these adequacy responses it would be our fervent hope that the CDMG would be able to
grant approval by October 20, 2001, concurrently with the USFS approval.
Approval of the revision is necessary and prudent for us to continue methane drainage for the safety
and well-being of MCC's workforce and meet the timing requirements of mining Longwall Panel 15.
