• III IIIIIIIIIIIII III •
999
28 October 1982
,
Mark Loye De RECEa``??!! E D
Department of Natural Resources U..JJ
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street OCT 2 9 1982
423 Centennial Building
Denver , Colorado 80203 MINED LAND RECLAMATION
Dear Mark : Colo. Dept. of Natural Resource
The following points will be incorporated in the Red
Jasper Granite operation as per our conversation of
October 25 , 1982 .
(1 ) The proposed 50 ' High hall to be left on the Southern
side of the quarry (Southern portion of the Red Area
Map 2) will be segmented at the 2S ' level with a bench .
Bench width will equal blade width , but will not be
less than 10 feet . The bench should slope 1 -2% for
drainage and be inclined 1 - 2 feet toward cut slopes .
The top portion of the high wall will be pulled back
to a 1 . 2S to 1 slope . (Figure 1)
(2) The pad (working surface) will be constructed so
that it dips 1 - 2% to the northwest in order to drain
into the tallus area below the pad .
(3) It is anticipated that the shortage of topsoil will
limit the full coverage of the mined area at the
prescribed depth of 8 -10" of topsoil . Therefore , it
is proposed that the topsoil will be replaced on the
mined area at a depth of 8 -10" in areas where pockets
of topsoil will be stable and have less chance of
eroding (i . e . , near the High hall and away from the
Callus drainage areas) . This selective placement of
topsoil will insure the best chance for vegetation
establishment .
Sincerely ,
William R. Beavers
