To this end i
propose relocation of the shaft site to 30 feet north of State Highway
133. This recommendation is based upon tv:o new items of information;
one, a land::lide which damaged the highway, and two, the fact that BLM
is dissat~sf~ed with both drill sites proprsed in the exploration permi*..
The slide which damaged the highway sipped along a plane on the north
side of the ~lighway. Examination of this slide shows evidence of a
weath^~Dd sandstone outcrop at the northe:•n edge of the slide, corres-
pondi~~g with the north edge of the highY~ry.
The ELM is dissatisfied with the drill saes because sites no. 9 is
practically an the highway and there is insufficient room to drill. Site
no. 10 is tco close to the power line for BLM to allow drilling.
As drilling rrom the surface to evaluate lc cation of the intake shaft
will entail ss much excavation as the shaft construction, I feel that
we can drill from within the mine using accepted procedures and gain
as much information as can be gained from the surface. This drilling
will have no surface effect.
This scheme of drilling is described as follows, and is depicted on the
attached map.

A •Y~i~ DI A A Y OF NOI,TN,Y [fT [ N [ K6 Y COM FA N V
