Box 252
La Jara, Colorado 81140
Re: Powell Construction Company Pit
Our File No. 77-53
Dear Ms. Rome:
After discussions with the proposed operator of this gravel mining operation,
it has been determined by our Division that the term "wasteland" should not
be applied to the reclamation of this site. Although the site of the operation
is somewhat arid and not very productive of vegetation, it is to be regraded,
retopsoiled, and reseeded with a perennial grass mixture as a part of
reclamation. This procedure will stabilize the area and promote future uses.
This permit application has been continued several times due to company owner-
ship changes. The new operator is to be Andersen Construction Company
(P.O. Box 1107, Alamosa, Colorado 81101). The Mined Land Reclamation Board
is to consider a transfer of the permit application to Andersen Construction,
as well as the mining and reclamation permit itself at the August 25-26
meeting. This meeting will be held in Room 110 of the Centennial Building,
1313 Sherman Street, in Denver.
Please feel free to call me if you have any further questions in this matter.
Sincerely,
~r+~-Lem ~3 ~
Mark S.
