<br />• iii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii <br />999 <br />.,:. . <br />Weed Control Plan <br />(Submitted to Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology) <br />Date: December 30, 1999 <br />Mine Name: Apache Mine <br />County: EI Paso <br />Mine ID#: M-78-009 <br />Operator: Robinson Brick Company <br />Inspector: James Dillie <br />Inspection Date: October 26, 1999 <br />Date Weed Control Plan required: January 4, 2000 <br />In response to the Inspection Report prepared by James Dillie ai the Division upon completion of the <br />October 26. 1999 Division inspection, Robinson Brick Company submits the following weed control plan. <br />This plan will serve as the basis for diffuse knapweed weed control during the 2000 field season and <br />beyond es and if requtrcd. <br />Methodology <br />Areas infested with diffuse knapweed within the Apache mine permit boundaries will be either mowed or <br />sprayed by a contractor experienced with weed control. Ibr spray application I pint Torden/acre and I <br />pound 2.4 D/acre will be applied. Currentl}~, during the ?000 field season, it is estimated that 20 plus acres <br />will be treated. However, due to recent dnlhng and secdmg of reclaimed areas during the fall of 1999, all <br />areas infested with knapweed will not be addressed as these areas may be damaged by these efforts. <br />During the 2001 field season, the drilled and seeded areas will be addressed as appropriate. <br />A contractor will be scheduled to Stan spraying or mowing during the spring of 2000, weather permitting. <br />The results from these initial efforts will be evaluated later in the summer of ?000 and secondary steps, if <br />necessary, will be taken as required. <br />During the early spring on an annual basis, Robinson Brick Company will inspect the Apache Mine permit <br />area to determine i(additional weed control measures arc required. I(a knapweed problem continues, <br />Robco, will take whatever reasonable steps are necessary to eliminate these problems.
