III IIIIIIIIIIIiiiii ~~, ,~
October 11, 1978
Mr. Edward Farrington
Yampa, CO 80483
EE: Operating Gravel Pit Vithout Permit
llear Mr. Farrington:
Oziginally, the Routt County t3oad Department consented to permitting
your gravel pit in District it and to eseuma responsibility for
reclamation of the pit after mining was completed. However, the
Hoed Department has now advised me that you era the major operator
of t:~e gravel pit and therefore they no longer wish to assume
responsibility for reclaiming ttie pit.
Colorado State Law has required since 1973 that all sand and gravel
operations moat obtain a valid mining and reclamation permit.
Because Routt County will not be permitting this pit and because
you are the owner of t}~ia p1t, it is now your responsibility to
permit this operation.
I have enclosed an application form, a copy of the Rules and
iiegulatione, a copy of the Mined Land Reclamation Act and a copy
of suggested guidelines for preparing limited impact mining and
reclamation applications. Plesse be sure to fill out the
application form completely and make Burn a21 Exhihits listed on
tae application form am attached to the application. Rule 3 of
the Rules and Regulatlona will provide much help on preparing the
application.
Please call 3P you have any questions. I'll be glad to help.
Sincerely,
Roger S.
