We aze happy to provide you the information requested. Some of it is
readily available, and we can get it to you quickly. Some requires assembly and may take a little
longer. And some, particulazly your Item No. 1 requires analysis and creation, and will take longer.
I wanted to go through your letter item by item and give you our preliminary assessment of the time
it will take to respond, and the nature and plan of response. For your convenience, I am setting forth
your specific request, followed by our response and wmments. We, of course, invite your comments
and reaction.
I also wanted to invite you and members of your team to come up to the mine and spend a day
viewing the site and discussing matters with us. If this sounds appropriate to you, please call me and
we can make arrangements. If you prefer, we could travel to Denver to meet with you.
Before responding to your letter in detail, we want to assure you at the outset that Trapper intends to
comply fully with its reclamation obligations with respect to the azea affected by the landslide. Please provide the Division with a forensic geotechnical and engineering analysis that
chazacterizes the landslide and its causes. In this analysis, please provide and evaluate the
following:
RESPONSE: We are working on an analysis such as you request.
Obvious-y, it will take some time to complete. Moreover, we are unsure
at this point whether a definitive characterization of the landslide and its
causes is possible to a reasonable degree of certainty. We are working
diligently, however, to conduct the best analysis we can, as it is very
significant for our own purposes. We are doing our analysis in two
phases. Phase I should be completed within three to four weeks. We will
provide it to you when we have completed it. Phase II will be completed
in three to four months. We will also provide this to you when it is
completed. I will address each of your bullet points separately, with an
indication of within which Phase of our report it will be contained.
• Blasting records from all blasts conducted at the Trapper Mine from September 24, 2006
to October 9, 2006.
