Dept. of Natural Resource
C-028-81
Pursuant to your letter of May 3, 1982, I am responding with
information that should answer your concerns that were listed.
Repsonse to those items are:
The mining permit number has been changed on our application to
C-028-81 as noted by your staff.
To spread the sludge, a modern manure spreader will be used that
is either calibrated or can be calibrated to ensure that no more
than 15 tons will be added to any given acre. One method of
calibration that could be used is to weigh a full spreader at the
weigh station in Keenesburg then distribute the material and
reweigh. The length and the width of the area covered could be
measured then calculate the weight of sludge per unit area.
~:~ Adolph Coors Company has an alternate site to use which is under
contract. We believe in having alternate sites to give us
flexibility in our operations. At no time will Adolph Coors
Company be limited to the mine for sludge utilization.
To determine the effectiveness of our sludge utilization program,
the Keenesburg mine will set aside two acres to allow for a
comparison of vegetative success.
~5~.~ Adolph Coors Company will also put in one shallow monitoring well
immediately downgradient of the pond to ensure the integrity of
the liner.
6. Point k6 on your letter is only a statement that you are still
reviewing our monitor plan.
