MANAGEMENT
~~
JUL 3 0 ~,
~'°.~
You had a few comments on Powderhorn's July monthly report. Following are PCC's responses
to your concerns:
1. CRDA-2 reclamation is progressing. It may be complete by the end of the year and that
would indeed be ahead of schedule.
2. PCC plans to perform some regrading at CRDA-1 by the end of the year. There are no
plans to place "demolition debris" on any of the refuse piles. Excess demolition debris will
be placed in the North Portal decline.
3. PCC plans to place demolition debris along the east "highwall" near the Roadside coal
stacking tube.
4. Work required at the RSRDA includes developing two new benches. The refuse material
generated by this work will be placed and compacted north of the existing pile. Exhibit 6C
shows the upper diversion ditch extends far enough to the north to accommodate the
expanded RSRDA pile.
5. PCC plans to investigate commercial interest in the South Portal office complex. I
recognize any change in land use, AOC variance, etc., would be handled as a technical
revision.
6. There is a logic problem in the reclamation schedule with regard to the refuse piles. Both
CRDA-1 and CRDA-2 are to be reclaimed by the end of 2002. PCC must have at least one
pile open to accept coal and refuse material from other reclamation activities. PCC will
address this problem in the reclamation schedule by the end of the year. The reclamation
schedule for the South Portal office complex will be addressed at the same time.
7. I agree the remaining reclamation work involves both structural demolition and a significant
amount of earthwork associated with reclamation of the North Portal.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
'J. E. Stove
Consulting Engineer
