The Corley Company
Phone 6325050 P.O. Bo, 1821
COLORADO SPRINGS,COLO RADO 80901
Nov. 16, 1993
Mr. Larry P. Routten
Division of Minerals 6 Geology
1313 Sherman St.
Denver CO 80203
Dear Mr. Routten:
iii iiiiiiiiuiiiiii
999
RFGE!VE;.:
fdOU 17 1993
Dig-ie~cn c; t,unci~,~ ~ ~:..c:::9Y
We have reviewed the new [lest Pit plans which are dated Nov. 8, 1993.
We are unaware of. any design errors that might be obvious to
nonengineering persons. It seems that Mr. Berry has produced a more
polished and thorough plan.
In 1992, Ms. Begej designed the current diversions for Harrison Western
with a 30 inch culvert to carry the unnamed creek flow. Her
calculations predicted a peak discharge of 33 cfs for a 10 year 24 hour
event. Mr. Berry predicts a peak discharge of 197 cfs for the same
creek for the same event. Why? Who is correct?
As separate questions, what are Mr. Berry's qualifications and
credentials? Is he a licensed PE? Is a licensed PE required for design
of permanent water diversion structures in Colorado?
We shall wait for Mr. Kessler's construction cost estimates before we
can agree with your proposal.
Sincerely,
I/~
W.D. Corley, Jr
President
