Loye <br />Senior Reclamation Specialist <br />REt MacKenzie Pit <br />File No. 80-224 <br />Dear Sirt <br /> <br />r, ~''~ 1 t 1982 <br />P~?INED ~qND RFC! qft;„ fitinl <br />Co.o Dept. ~~; "natural RFso!~ICe <br />After re-reading my letter to you in regards to recommendations ~k4, I <br />find I was vague in my explanation. <br />The condition of the area in question, where top soil is being lost at <br />the mining face, was brought on because the crusher people wanted to <br />finish the quantity of material they were to produce at this setting, <br />consequently crowded the stripped area much too close. <br />The pit has indicated that 12 inches of overburden is all that is <br />necessary, with 14 feet of gravel, to make the 4200 mesh screen meet <br />Class 6 gravel and grading E plant mix highway specifications. So, it <br />is in our interest, material wise, to not allow the present condition <br />to exist. <br />The plan, for the area in question, is to finish stripping the active <br />area, finish our pit slopes to the 3t1 slope, then move the existing <br />top soil stockpiles down into our worked-ouC pit area, where stockpiles <br />and pit slopes will be seeded as directed by reclamation plans. <br />I hope this more complete explanation will help to clarify our plan as <br />it stands today. <br />Thank you for your advice and assistance in this matter. <br />Sinc ely, <br />~ ~~..~ <br />Donald W.
