The <br />permit covered the Black Diamond Mine located in Section 24, T2oS, <br />R70W, and was issued Permit No. 73-04. The Divisic-: is holding <br />two surety bonds for Canon Coal. One was issued 11713/73 by <br />Firarcial Indemnity Company, as No. 235623L, for $15,000 per acre <br />at ",~ Black Diamond :•Ii.rc. the otl~,a~ was is~ucu ~iij75 Ly the <br />Insurance Company of North America for 515,000 for Canon Coal <br />Corporation of Florence, CO. Both bonds have legal problems, but <br />the Division is looking into their revocation. <br />GEC submitted a permit application to the Division on 4~1/~~. <br />GEC >_nitially received a permit to operate a mine in the current <br />GEC permit area by taking over the permit from Canor. Coal on <br />8/26/77. GEC had previously put up a $25,000 bond on April 14, <br />1976, but it was amended to $66,440 on 7/14/77. There is no <br />evidence of GEC permitting of open pit mining within the permit <br />area until receipt of an amendment to Permit ??-48 or. ^~23~?9. <br />There is evidence of another amendment on 11/21/79 which included <br />additional disturbance in Section 24. Mapping of reclamation o;= <br />areas in Section 24 are not included in the permitting until the <br />5/3/77 amendment. <br />With regard to your question about contacts at Energy Fuels, Z <br />discussed the gravel in the Explosives Storage area with the EFCI <br />permitting liaison, Allen Weaver. <br />
