Box 882580 23880 US Hwy 40
$taamboat Sprfng~, CO 80488
--~00 FAX (970) 870-0280
Enclosed aze copies of the water quality analyses for samples collected last August from the Teilier
and Anderson residence wells, and Last May from the monitoring well neaz the Teilier Pit. I have
compared the analyses with national drinking water standazds in Table t through Table 3 (see
attachments). All of the tested parameters met drinking water standards and were significantly
below levels that aze considered to present human health risks.
Table 4 in the enclosed attachments is a summary of the Teilier Pit sand and gravel mining activities
with their associated potential pollutants, potential impact on surface and ground water, and analytes
that should be tested to identify the pollutants. Based on the activity at the Teilier Pit, Connell
Resources recommends that our annual ground water testing be limited to pH, Total Dissolved
Solids (TDS), Oil and Grease, Extractable Total Hydrocazbons, and BTEX (benzene, toluene,
ethyibenzene, and xylenes}. The EPA recommends that ground water drinking supply wells should
be annually tested for colifotm bacteria and nitrates. These potential pollutants are most likely
related to septic systems and fertilizers. Although Connell Resources activities at the Teilier Pit wilt
not contribute colifotm bacteria or nitrates to the ground water system, we will conduct these tests
as a gesture of goodwill.
If there aze any questions or additional information needed please contact Tony or myself at 870-
0200.
Since~rely~, ~y,
/ %~~'y
Arthur M.
