Curry, Post Office
Box 566, 3569 J-75 Drive, Hotchkiss, Colorado 81419.
LOCATION: The project site is located in the North Fork Gunnison
River approximately 0.5 mile east of the To~~Z~hin
Section 29, Township 14 South, Range 92 est, Delta County, +
Colorado.
PIIRPO88: The applicant proposes to construct three alluvial
dikes to facilitate the excavation of alluvial material for
gravel Droduction and sale.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Approximately 300 cubic yards of alluvial
material will be discharged for the construction of three dikes
to allow excavation of approximately 60,000 cubic yards of
material annually. The dikes would be constructed at a 2:1 slope
and would be approximately 500, 700 and 900 feet long, 3 feet
high and 14 feet wide at the base. The dikes would be removed
before high water runoff and reconstructed after runoff on an
annual basis. It is probable that on a given year, not all of
the dikes would be constructed, dependent on the demand for
gravel products.
AREA DESCRIPTION: The project site is located adjacent the left
bank of the North Fork Gunnison River approximately 0.5 mile east
of the Town of Hotchkiss, Colorado. The adjacent riparian
corridor historically dominated by cottonwood trees and a shrub
layer of willow and sumac.
