Our family owns a Ranch in southwest Colorado near the
King Coal Mine. Last year King Coal mined under our property and we have
experienced, what we consider, huge changes in sections of ground.
Officials of King Coal came shortly after mining under our property and
admitted mining less than 300 feet of the home at the north end of the ranch,
which is owned and lived in by the Marc Crawford family. The law as we
understand is that no property is to mined within 600 feet of a dwelling.
This family home has sunk into the ground 2 inches in the last 9
months. There are gapping cracks that are a foot and a half wide in places
and up to 80 yards long and possibly 7 feet deep or more. These cracks run
parallel to each other and are approximately 100 yazds from Marc
Crawford's home. The officials that came from King Coal to speak to the
partners of Crawford ranch seemed to not be concerned with the situation
when we spoke with them last. Can you assist us in documenting these
changes and talk to the concerned partners to see what can be done.
Enclosed aze photos and a map. Please respond as soon as possible as
things aze not getting better with the structure involved.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Mike and Marc Crawford
970-385-4365
2161 Cr 121
Hesperus Colorado 81326
