All the specific concerns raised in
your lette3r to the Division dated September 14, 1995 are addressed in one
or the other of the reports. The Division has jurisdiction related to two
of the concerns raised in your letter: structural damage related to
blasting vibration, and impacts to groundwater quantity and quality. Once
the operator provides certain specific information on the nature of the
blasting at the site, the Division will take steps to assure that the
blasting related ground motions are below the levels that would cause
structural damage. You will be advised of the limitations placed on the
operation at that time. If you are interested in gaining an increased
understanding of the field of blasting related ground motions, the
reference: listed in the 10/11/95 inspection report contain a great deal
of information on the subject. .
If you have any questions, or if I may be of further assistance, please
do not he~litate to contact me.
Sincerely,
r
.v
Allen C. 5'~orenson
Reclamation Specialist
enclosure(s)
C:\WP51\SHEF:IDAN.CM1
