This is a positive effort and
mention is made in the application of addition of riffles for fish habi-
tat. This area is an excellent brown trout fishery and should be identi-
fied as such to the Mined Land Reclamation Division. Therefore, it is
essential that activities in the Purgatoire River not begin until mid-
November to ensure that Brown Trout spawn has been successfully completed
prior to disturbance.
Although threatened and endangered species are not common, bald eagles do
occur in the area during winter months and care should be taken to avoid
roost/rest areas such as mature cottonwood trees.
BH:1b
xc: Bruce Goforth
DOWn-c.8
