Mined Land Reclamation Div. <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, CO 80201 <br />RE: Bonanza Power Project <br />Deserado Mine, Permit C-018-81 <br />Request to leave three check dams in place <br />Dear Mr. Long: <br />Western Fuels requests not to remove the three loose rock <br />check dams which were placed in Scullion Gulch last summer, <br />as defined on page IV-73 of the Mine Permit, <br />The check dams will reduce the sediment delivered to the <br />White River from the undisturbed portions of the Scullion <br />Gulch watershed. <br />The check dams are located far enough below the principal <br />spill of DP-1 and the culvert which passes the Scullion <br />Gulch watershed so as not to empound water between the <br />check dam and the face of the dam, thus not affecting the <br />stability of the sediment pond. <br />Western Fuels appreciates your consideration of this <br />request.
