Lamm
Governor
September 19, 1984
Mr. R. W. MacCannon
General Superintendent, Mining Operations
CF&I Steel Corporation
P.O. Box 316
Pueblo, Colorado 81002
Re: Canon Dolomite Quarry
File No. 77-376
Dear Mr. MacCannon:
Our Division has received your report of September 18, 1984 stating that your
mining operation captioned above is no longer active. Please be advised that
Rule 1.6 of the Rules and Regulations for Minerals has recently been revised
by the Mined Land Reclamation Board to more clearly delineate the duties of an
operator whose mining operation is in a state of temporary inactivity. A copy
of this new Rule is enclosed.
Please review this Rule carefully and notify our Division concerning the
status of your operation. If the operation is in temporary cessation, please
submit a Notice of Temporary Cessation that complies with the requirements of
Rule 1.62. The start of the five-year temporary cessation period should be
specified in the Notice and should be the date on which the mining operation
ceased. If, on the other hand, the mining operation should not be considered
to be in temporary cessation, please outline the reasons that this operation
should still be considered to be active.
Failure to file a proper Notice of Temporary Cessation can result in a
violation to your permit being found by the Mined Land Reclamation Board, or
even termination of your life-of-the-mine permit for this operation. Please
respond to this letter within 30 days to avoid further Division action on this
matter.
Please be advised that the annual fee requirements for a regular 112 permit
such as this are $350.00 per year. Enclosed please find the receipt for the
$50.00 check received by our Division. Please remit the balance of $300.00 at
your earliest convenience.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. (303) 866-3567
