Site inspection was made on September 19th which found
that this is a heap leach operation instead of a vat leach operation as
indicated in the permit application. The Board found reason to believe that a
violation existed in September at which time the operator indicated he would
submit a technical revision which has been done and appears to address the
Division's concerns. Based on the operator's response to the problems, staff
recommended that the Board not find a violation at the site contingent upon a
follow up inspection next spring to evaluate the remedial measures that have
been taken to correct the problem and that a letter be sent to the operator
reminding them that if they elect to change the mine plan again that they need
to submit an amendment for approval prior to doing so.
Mr. Gib Rindahl was present representing Mine Development and responded to
questions from the Board.
This presentation can be heard on the permanent record, Tape 3 2 30.
Slides were shown and additional staff presentation was made by Geologist,
Philip Saletta.
It was MOVED that the Forrnal Public Hearing for Mine Development Inc., File
No. 81-165, for consideration of violation be continued to the May Board
Meeting, 1985. SECONDED and PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
AGENDA ITEM 33 - COLORADO GOLD & SILVE SR
Staff presentation was made by Geologist, Philip Saletta, regarding a request
for release of financial warranty on a 110 gold operation, 0.5 acres, in
Teller County. Although slides were not available, staff recommended approval
of full release of the 5500 currently held based on the fact that grading has
been done and it would be impractical to attempt to reestablish vegetation
since not all of the ore dump material was removed.
It was MOVED that the Board approve the request for release of financial
warranty from Colorado Gold & Silver, File No. 80-14.
