Turkey, bear, mountain lion, and various small mammals inhabit the
area year-round. In the summer, migratory birds use the area for breeding and brood rearing, and it is an important
hunting ground for bald and golden eagles throughout the year. This site is also located within mule deer winter range.
Activities at the site could displace small mammals and birds, which in turn will impact the predators that rely on them
Reclamation of the site will provide restored habitat, however, future use of the area will determine the continued
presence of resident wildlife.
Reclamation should be an on-going process with no more than approximately 10 to 15 acres disturbed at any one time.
Slopes should be left at grades less than or equal to the original topography. The site should also be revegetated with
native grasses, Forbes and shrubs.
We recommend that the operator make all reasonable attempts to minimize all activities on the site during the winter
(November 15 to April 151. Any activities that can be operated on a time schedule should be conducted between
10:OOam and 2:OOpm. Firearms and worker's dogs should be prohibited on the site and efforts should be made to limit
the number of vehicles visiting the location.
This information was provided by Carolyn Adams.
