M.D. <br />Executive Dve nor <br />The Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division of the Colorado <br />Department of Health (the Division) has completed its review of the <br />application to amend the Certificate of Designation of the North Fork Landfill <br />submitted May 25, 1989 by the Delta County Commissioners. The site is located <br />in the N 1/2 SE 1/4 and W 1/4 NE 1/4 of SE 28, T14S, R92W of the 6th P,M. <br />Delta County Colorado. This site is approximately 64 acres of which <br />approximately 19 acres is currently filled with coal mine wastes (gob), <br />Approximately 8 acres of these 19 is proposed to be used for the disposal of <br />friable asbestos. The plan was reviewed to ascertain its compliance with the <br />minimum standards as set forth in the Solid Wastes Disposal Act, Sections <br />30-20-100 to 116, C.R.S, 1973 (Solid Waste Act) and with the regulations <br />promulgated thereunder, 6 C.C.R. 1007-2 (the Regulations). <br />The Division in reviewing the submitted plan, has the following requirements: <br />1. The area of service is for Delta County only as modified from the <br />original request in a letter from the Gounty dated August 1, 1989. <br />2. No asbestos fill shall be placed closer than 25 feet to the property <br />boundary per section 8.3.3 of the Regulations. <br />3. Permanent records of asbestos buried at the site shall be maintained <br />per section 8.3.11 of the Regulations. <br />4. Warning signs shall be placed around the asbestos disposal area and <br />adequate fencing shall be installed to restrict access per section <br />8,3.9 of the Regulations. <br />5. Asbestos shall be contained as per sections 8.3.6 through 8.3,9 of <br />the Regulations. <br />
