Stover: As you may be aware, state budget cuts this past summer and subsequent staff turnover necessitated a Division reorganization and associated changes in mine assignments. This letter is to inform you of resultant changes. Effective November 1st, I will be the Senior Specialist in charge of your area, Mike Long is now Supervisor of the State Coal Program. Candy Thompson is the lead specialist in charge of your mine and should be the primary contact person for all questions and correspondence. Currently, the group of reclamation specialist assigned to mines in your area consist of rl(yself, Candy Thompson -Surface Water Hydrologist, Gregg Squire - Vegetation/lVildlife Specialist and Jim Stevens - Hydrologist. Lynn bloomer - Soil Scientist is on 6~Ilonth temporary assignment but we hope to hire him on permanent assignment pending the civil service exam. A sixth position is now vacant but should be filled by January 1st. The staff shortage and change-over has resulted in a backlog of work. We are working hard to catch up on the applications and accommodate mines that have special priority projects. If you have pending projects or anticipate future projects where timely approval will be important, please bring them to my attention. We will do whatever we can to cooperate with you.
