C-037-81
Dear Mr. Squire:
A~. per our telephone conversation yesterday, I request a minor modification
to the above referenced reclamation plan.
Native Seeders is working in the ABM projects in the Radiant reclamation
area just to the northwest of GEC's pits. The MLRD has specified a mix-
ture of seed for these projects that varies slightly from the version
approved for the GEC reclamation area.
Native Seeders has on hand a quaitity of what is called "Mixture B", which
substitutes Little Bluestem and Sand Dropseed species for Streambank wheat
grass in the mixture approved for GEC. Following below is a comparison of
the two mixtures:
~'.ixture approved for GEC "Mixture B"
Western Wheatgrass 45% by wt. 32.4 % by wt.
Sideoats Gramma 20% 28.9%
Blue Gramma 5% 7.2%
Indian Ricegrass 10% 7.9%
Streambank Wheatgrass 20% XXXXXXX
Little Bluestem XXXXX 7.2%
Sand Dropseed XXXXX 0.98%
Since the two mixtures are so similar and Native Seeders are avail-
able at this good time for seedbed preperation, I feel the modification
is justified. As requested, 2 lbs. per acr Cicer egume will be
added to the mix. ~ i
Your v t ul / ~
~~~
~~/f ~~~~
~'v~ ~>~
Curtis L. Miller `~
