Mule deer 'and antelope may
be killed on the road above the Highline canal. Pheasant loss could
be high below the canal. Golden eagles and ringtail cats could be
killed on the road while feeding on animals killed on the road.
Reclamation Recommendations: (may be attached)
Dorchester Colomine should document every species of wildlife killed o
the road between their mine and their load-out facility.
Reports of wildlife killed on the road should be submitted to the
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board who would then turn those report
over to the D.O.W. This would identify any problems for wildlife
and would document whether or not a problem actually existed. If after
a specified period of time, evidence suggested that a road-kill _
problem did not exist, then the entire reporting system would be '
abandoned.
