Since gravel mining is a recognized use in agricultural
zoning, the operation is compatable with the area.
2. Provisions are being made to protect existing water rights
and ditches. To my knowledge, there are no standards for
ditch rights-of-way to prevent seepage, anc: the monitoring
by use of parshall flumes would be my recommendation. In
most gravel mining operations, blue clay or shale is encountered
and the fining of these ditches after cleaning would also
insure the delivery of the water.
3. Bank sloping should be at least 3 to 1 in areas where future
public use will be permitted.
4. We have already given Mr. Mack Graham a suggested seeding
recommendation for critical area plantings, and goose nesting
boxes.
~. Provisions have been made in the reclamation plan for tree
plantings, which are also desirable.
Should you have additional questions, feel free to call on me.
Sincerely,
ra - ,
Orville Sadar
President
OS:rah
CONSERVATION - DEVELOPMENT - SELF-GOVERNMENT
