Our records indicate that Payson lupine
(Luoinus crassus), a federal Category 2 plant species, occurs in or near
your project area.
The following materials are enclosed for your information:
• an explanation of the federal Category 2 status,
• location and related information on two occurrences of the
Payson lupine in township 46 N., range 15 W.,
• a technical description of the plant.
The Payson lupine is known only from Montrose County, Colorado. Aground
clearance should be conducted by a qualified botanist prior to
surface-disturbing activities, especially on Mancos shale substrates.
Please contact Don Schrupp, Ecological Services Section, Colorado
Division of Wildlife (297-1192) for information on animal species of
special concern in the area of interest.
If I can be of further assistance in interpreting the enclosed
materials, please call.
Sincerely,

Tamara S.
