The Division of Minerals and Geology received your letter notifying
the Division of the purchase of real estate and tax sale of the
Hawk's Nest Guest House. The Division also received a copy of this
transaction from Gunnison County.
Per the landowners request, the Division will not reclaim the
existing guest house and associated utility poles, lines and
transformers under the current reclamation plan. Please note
however, that the owner of the property outside the Hawk's Nest
Guest House is Somerset Mining Company, not the Division of
Minerals and Geology. Any permission needed to cross the said
property with electric, telephone and TV cable services must be
granted by Somerset Mining Company.
As you are aware, the Division is currently in the process of
conducting reclamation activities in the Hawk's Nest Coal Silo
Facility Area. Reclamation activities will involve removal of the
two (2) concrete silos, conveyor system, truck dump scale,
coal/coal waste material and topsoil replacement and revegetation
of the area. A blasting plan of the silos will be provided to you
at a later date. Please be aware that these activities will be
starting in late October and carry over into Spring or Summer of
1994.
