OSM did not conduct mass balance calculations, drainage or
culvert calculations, or review revegetation. The proposal was
reviewed to determine if the postminng topography meets the
configuration that was agreed upon by OSM in December, 1994.
OSM finds that the postmining configuration is consistent with
the December, 1994 agreement. The proposal results in a shorter
drainage valley with rounded features that are more natural
looking. The drainage alignment is more meandering and the
ridgeline or saddle connecting the east and west ridges blends
into and complements the reclaimed and undisturbed land.
Should you have any questions concerning this matter, please
contact me at 303-672-5557.
Since ly,
Michael Rosenthal
Chief
Physical Sciences Branch
cc: John Retrum
Solicitor
