Long <br />Dinsion Direcor <br />Re: Somerset / Sanborn Creek Mines, File C-81-022, Air Pollution <br />Emission Permit for Coal Stockpiles. <br />Dear Mr. Wright: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) received Somerset Mining <br />Company's (SMC) response to our request for information regarding <br />SMC's application, to the Colorado Air Quality Control Division <br />(AQCD), for an Emissions Permit Modification. <br />SMC requested that AQCD's requirement for wind screens around all <br />coal stockpiles be removed from the permit due to the "virtual <br />impossibility" of maintaining these wind screens due to limited <br />space and high amount of activity around the stockpiles. <br />Though SMC did receive a confirmation of payment which acknowledges <br />that AQCD received the request, this does not relieve SMC of the <br />requirement to maintain windscreens around these piles. Please <br />establish these windscreens by July 31, 1994, or obtain and provide <br />to DMG an approval of your request from AQCD. <br />If you have any questions, please contact me. <br />Sincerely, <br />Steve S.
