Gold Hill Ventures
3840 W. Marginal Way S.W. P.0. Box 1523
Seattle, WA 98106 Longmont, CO 80502
Re: Cash Mine and Mill, Permit No. M-83-141
Dear Ms. Fraser and Mr. Steen:
Micnael B. Long,
Drvlswn Director
Ltd. Partnership
The Mined Land Reclamation Board issued Notice of Violation M-92-21 at the March
26, 1992 Board meeting to co-permittees Gold Hill Ventures Limited Partnership
and Colina Oro Molino, Inc. In case you have not received a copy of the Notice
of Violation and Order to pay civil penalties document that the Board issued, I
have enclosed it for your use.
One of the main problems that we have had in attempting to get the site in
compliance with the provisions of the permit is a lack of cooperation between
the co-permittees in addressing the issues identified in our inspection reports
of November 26, 1991 and February 13, 1992. I have also included copies of
these reports for your use.
The Division would like to bring to your attention that the Board will hear the
facts surrounding the additional three violations at the April 22-23, 1992
meeting. If the site is not in compliance with the provisions of the permit by
that date, the Division staff will not recommend any suspension of the possible
civil penalties proposed. This could result in civil penalties of $46,785.00
being levied in addition to the $23,370.00 civil penalty already outstanding.
I would strongly urge you to cooperate with your co-permittee and bring the mine
and mill in compliance with the terms of the permit. Doing so may help you
avoid the possible civil penalties and would allow the Division to stop taking
actions that will lead to permit revocation and bond forfeiture.
If you have arty questions, please contact William York-Feirn or Carl Mount.
Sincerely, ;
Michael B.
