These excerpts should help clarify
questions you had pertaining to cross-sectional width when measuring stream
discharge.
Regarding our discussion about crossing Stollsteimer creek with a motor grader
to maintain contour furrows on the east side of the original pit reclamation
area, the Division believes that associated disturbance to the creek is not
justified. The Division urges mine site personnel to evaluate other means of
maintaining these furrows. It is felt that a small loader or similar
equipment would be adequate to perform the required maintenance, while
creating less disturbance.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me.
Sincerely,
ic----
Steven Renner
Hydrologist
SR/ddt
Enclosure(s)
cc: Peter Y.
