The oil originated from two de-energized
electrical transformers that had been vandalized. Each transformer
had a capacity of 165 gallons. Approximately 20 cubic yards of oil
contaminated soil was excavated and placed on and covered with
plastic.
Two "oily" samples of the oil contaminated soil were obtained and
sent to a laboratory for analysis. The soil was selectively
sampled to be high in oil content.
Enclosed are the laboratory test results. The samples were high in
oil and grease (3,965 and 4,730 mg/kg) and tested as non-pcb. A
TCLP metals analysis was performed on both samples.
Please let me know if the Department of Health can approve the
disposal of the oil contaminated soil in the Delta County Landfill.
Sincerely,
~ys/
Jim Stover, P.E.
Consulting Engineer
cc: B.
