The material is
generally moist (2-10%) and the particle size is a coarse sand. This material
comes from lime manufactured from limestone in South Dakota and hydrated at
our plant in La Porte, Colorado. The various components are all from thie
original limestone: materials considered as contaminants in the hydrate, but not
a toxic or acid-forming material. The material is slightly alkali.
The following information is supplied, as required by Rule 3.1.5(9):
a. Narrative describing the approximate location of the proposed activity:
The grit will be placed at or near the bottom of open pits from which limestone
has been mined, prior to backfilling with innerburden and overburden in the
process of backfilling to final reclamation grade. The grit will be placed in areas
where 10 feet or more of backfill from the quarry itself will be placed above it.
