These claims were
staked in the years 1987 and 1988. My grandfather Marion F. Roy patented these claims in years
of 1903, 1912, and 1946. He sold the ranch in 1947 and reserved one-half (50%) of the oil, gas,
and mineral rights. In 1947, when mineral rights were reserved, the owners considered gravel
mineral because the rocks in this area do carry high mineralization.
The Sutherland Trucking Company, along with the owner of Silver Hawk Ranch, near Nucla,
Co. have an agreement to remove gravel and haul this gravel to Telluride Sand and Gravel in
Telluride, Co. None of the individuals who own mineral rights on the properiy were contacted by
the Sutherlands or the land owner as to the removal of gravcl from the property. The owner of the
Silver Hawk Ranch, George Glasser, did say after I contacted him that they had the surface area
tested and they have found some gold but it was not economically feasible to try to retrieve. They
did not test material at a depth of 40 feet, which gets close to bed rock and the gravel pit is a[ least
that deep. Also, the person who had done the testing is now deceased and there aze not test results
available. Since that time, I have done a great deal of testing of the gravel and sand and found the
material to be high in value. The material contains high levels of gold and silver and does have
some PGM (platinum group metals) in the material.
