Removal of approximately 26.5 acres of permitted, undisturbed land from the mining plan. <br />Permit boundaries would remain as they are. Land removed from the mining plan would <br />become buffer. Virtually all future mining would be restricted to currently disturbed land. <br />2. The creation of an over excavation hole at the base of the west wall. The hole would not <br />be visible. The hole would be backfilled to approximately the level of the processing plant and <br />essentially similar to the current permitted plan. <br />3. Application of MRAC/Castle Concrete enhanced reclamation to all areas that would still be <br />disturbed. <br />ANTIC/PATED PROBLEMS: <br />1. Possible geotechnical stability problems with creating a hole at the base of the wall. Would <br />need to be assessed by geotechnical engineer. If problems could occur, hole design could <br />probably be modified. A tentative opinion by a geotechnical engineer is that serious problems <br />should not be created, but further study may be needed. <br />ADVANTAGES TO THE COMMUN/TY.• <br />1. About 9046 of currently undisturbed land that is within the permit would remain <br />undisturbed. <br />Z. Visual reclamation would be completed while the company is still on site so maintenance <br />can easily occur on the visual reclamation. <br />3. A large percentage of future mining would be in areas that are not visible (i.e. the hole). <br />4. No loss of enhanced reclamation planning efforts by MRAC and Castle Concrete. The <br />negotiated enhanced reclamation plans would simply be incorporated into the quarry plan <br />changes. <br />July 1, 1993 <br />
