Cattany <br />Division Director <br />/ Natural Resource TmsTee <br />V <br />Wonder Mine, M-1978-091UG <br />~- <br />Following our conversation yesterday, I reviewed what water quality pazameters you should measure to <br />monitor the valley floor adit azea below the Golden Wonder Mine. <br />Generally one should measure pH plus all the regulated pazameters listed in Table II and Table III in <br />Regulation 31 (Basic Standazds and Methodologies for Surface Water) plus all the regulated pazameters in <br />Table 1, Table 2, and Table 3 in Regulation 41 (Basic Standazds and Methodologies for Ground Water) of <br />the Colorado Water Quality Control Commission regulations. You can find these under Health <br />Department at http://www.cdnhe.state.co.us/on/re~s/waterregs <br />Depending on local geological and mining conditions, parameters that are not likely to be either produced <br />by mining or to be present in the mine waters can be excluded. You may want to check with me before <br />electing to dismiss any questionable pazameters. Those that generally aze not needed include: <br />Exceptions from Table II (Regulation 31) <br />Ammonia <br />Chlorine <br />Cyanide <br />Sulfide <br />Asbestos <br />Exceptions from Table I (Regulation 41) <br />Total Coliforms <br />Asbestos <br />Cyanide <br />Nitrate <br />Nitrite (must measure total nitrate + nitrite) <br />Radiologicals (if U content is not above average earth values) <br />Colorado <br />l:nnlno~~~l c'. <br />ice of <br />Mined land Reclamation <br />Office of <br />Active and Inactive Mines <br />
