Pair dated 8/1/91, I am attaching cost
estimates for bonding, together with our suggested mitigation measures for a
revised permit for Holnam Inc. at their Boettcher sandstone quarry in Lorimer
County.
To review the background of this action, it vas determined early this year that
disturbance at the quarry had exceeded 5 acres, which on BLN land requires
submission of a Plan of Operations instead of a Notice of Intent to Prospect. A
Plan of Operations must be bonded and requires an Environmental Assessment (EA)
to determine, among other things, proper mitigation measures. The EA has been
completed.
It is my understanding that CMLRD presently holds a bond of 55,000 covering the
Holnam Sandstone Quarry. Based on our computations (attached) we feel that this
should be increased to $10,600 as a minimum.
Charles Fair of my staff suggested to Roy Stienmier at Holnam that he submit a
revised application to you covering their penit. I don't know if he has done
that.
For your information, Holnam also has applied for patent on these claims. If
patent is issued, the BLM no longer would be involved in reclamation of this
site.
If you have any questions, contact Charles Pair of my office at (719) 375-Ob31.
Sincerely yours,
~~~ ~, ~~
Area Mana er
9
Attachments: 3
Mitigation Heasures
Plan of Operations - Addendum
Reclamation Bond Evaluation Worksheet
iii iiiiiiiiniiiiu
999
pp~~TApR~E
AMERI(~A~
~~
~~ i
3809
(co-os7)
