Long
RE: O.C. #2 Mine Pendinq Projects IIpdate Div is ion Director
When I assumed the lead responsibility for the O.C.#2 Coal Mine in
February, you made a list of pending projects. I would like to
update you on the status of those projects.
^ Reclamation Bond - I do not recall what you wanted to know,
but we are holding a bond for $36,000.00 and the last estimate
of liability was completed by me on November 8, 1994, and is
$34,864.00. If you need more information on this, please let
me know.
^ Liability Insurance - There is a policy with coverage
beginning April 28, 1994 and will end April 25, 1995.
Previously, there was a policy with coverage from April 22,
1993 to April 22, 1994. There appears to be six days that the
site was not covered by insurance. I propose that we do not
pursue the lack of coverage for the six days, and I will
remind Mr. Weaver to renew the policy when I am in the field
next week.
^ AHR and ARR - I requested that Mr. Weaver send the Division
the ARR in a letter sent March 13, 1995. I will remind him
again next week. It appears that the only water monitoring
required is NPDES, if the pond discharges, and water
monitoring of the discharge from the Nu Mine. Apparently, on
October 22, 1992, the O.C. Mine was given a temporary
suspension of monitoring this discharge. In his mid-term
review, Randy requested that Mr. Weaver submit a technical
revision to discontinue monitoring permanently. Randy states
that the water discharging from the Nu Mine, at the present
water quality and at the anticipated future water quality,
will not have an adverse impact to the prevailing hydrologic
balance.
^ Mid-term Review - Randy finished the mid-term and requested
three revisions; a TR for the inclusion of about 8 acres into
