The Corley Company
PM1One 6325050 P.O. Box 1821
COLORADO SPRINGS GOLD RADO 80901
Nov. 22, 1991
Ms. Catherine W. Begej
Mined Land Reclamation Div.
1313 Sherman St.
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Ms. Begej:
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
~~~~Y~'~I~-
NOV 2 5 1991
Mined Land
Reclamation Divisi~~-
We have not received any reply to our request for information regarding MLRD's
plaits for starting the reclamation in our Section 24. When will the reclama-
[ion be started Also, we have not seen any reclamation performed by Harrison
Western on the G~ west pit. Is Harrison Western going to do any reclamation?
We would like to request a meeting with Mr. Renner to discuss the reclamation
initiation of Section 24 and Harrison Western's lack of reclamation.
With regard to your Nov. 12, 1991, letter and Nov. 5, 1991 inspection report,
we are unable to correlate your findings with those of Tony Waldron eleven
days prior to your inspection. He indicated that the road and hydrologic
balance were adequate.
Specifically with regard to your report, utilizing your Shamrock ditch mea-
surements, the average ditch depth is 1.39' and ditch width is 5.26' which is
.39' deeper than the typical design depth and 1.26' wider. If the entire
ditch had vertical walls, 4.37 cu. yd, of material has been removed. Your
assumption that the ditch is constructed in sandy loam is mostly incorrect.
The construction of the pit, verified by MLRD inspections, was 4' of cover
material which was not sandy loam and 1' of top soil. The ditch was con-
structed typically 1' deep which would make the toe of the ditch in the
nonsandy loam 4' cover material which is shale and coarse gravel.
Incidentally, we did initiate repairs on the ditches on Nov. 7, 1991, and are
proceeding as the snow cover permits.
We are not aware of regulations concerning the road which has been excluded
from our reclamation requirements and the bond for the road reclamation has
been released. Never the less, there is no practical way to get any road
maintenance equipment to the road. As you may know, our only access is over
the powerline road, which is too impassible for a road grader.
We have seeded the areas specified: lower pond sediment three times, the ranch
road twice, and the Rex pond once.
Sincerely,
i
W.D. Corley, J
President
