Box 263
Independence, Kansas 67301
Re: GEC Reclamation Correspondence
File No. C-037-81
Dear Mr. Layton:
A review of our monthly inspection reports and your reclamation status
letters, including the most recent one sent to us on June 24, 1985, indicate
that very little reclamation work has occurred during May or June. You should
be aware that the West Pit should be totally reclaimed, with the exception of
seeding, by mid-August. If this is not done, the Division must present the
facts of the lack of compliance with the Board Order to the Board. The Board
may then determine if it is necessary to revoke your mine permit and forfeit
the reclamation bond. Please advise us as soon as possible of your planned
schedule for the completion of the reclamation of the West Pit by mid-August.
Sincerely,
~] ~
//
t Y{` i~ ~wt
Gregg R.
