SHELTO N, Director
Richard D. Lamm
Governor
DATE: March 14, 1985
T0: Susan Mowry
FROM: Jim Pendleton -~ /
RE: Blue Ribbon oal Mi - Haul Road Certification
Pursuant to your request, I have reviewed the certification statement prepared
by Larry M. Reschke, Colorado Registered P.E. No. 19891. Mr. Reschke's report
certifies that the road is stable for its intended use, in compliance with
Stipulation No. 1, placed upon Permit No. C-047-81. The haul road at the Blue
Ribbon Mine has been the subject of relatively intensive previous scrutiny by
Rocky Mountain Geotechnical of Colorado Springs, consultant to the operator.
As a portion of the permit approval for the Blue Ribbon Mine's permanent
program permit, the Division required that the slope stability of the pre-law
haul road be analyzed. Consultant's findings indicated that the majority of
the road surface was located on a stable bench cut and that those portions of
the road located on colluvium material do not present a significant hazard.
Mr. Reschke's certification statement is in agreement with those original
observations. Therefore, I recommend acceptance of Mr. Reschke's
certification report, as submitted.
/ph
cc: Bob Liddle
Doc.
